Server 2008... "Windows requires re-activation due to hardware change", except nothing has changed. Multiple installations.
Windows requires re-activation due to hardware change , except nothing has changed . Nothing. Not one piece of hardware. Not so much as a new mouse. Not on ANY of the affected boxes. The timing however is suspect as it occurred at roughly one year after the initial activations. Have I missed something? Is there an "ET phone home" command that I am not aware of that triggers at one year? If so, why? If not, what is causing this?

My questions were: The timing however is suspect as it occurred at roughly one year after the initial activations. Have I missed something? Is there an "ET phone home" command that I am not aware of that triggers at one year? If so, why? I would like to know WHY I am going through the reactivation routine on servers that have NOT been modified, changed, formatted, reformatted, unformatted, etc. If not, what is causing this?

Maybe if I restate the question..... Should I expect to re-activate my servers (due to non-existant hardware changes) every 12 months? Is this common?

Two months now and over 1.200 views.... Is no one going to answer the original question as to whether my servers will have to be periodically reactivated "due to hardware change" even when there are no hardware changes? Is there a time window in which the server(s) will simply tell me to re-activate?

OK... Here is the update. I have finished the "re-activation due to hardware change". On multiple machines that have had NO hardware changes. My questions are: Is there a time window in which the server(s) will simply tell me to re-activate again? If not, what are the triggers that would cause my Server 2008 units to, as a group, decide they had undergone mythical hardware changes?
